Description

With two shallow stoneware bowls, the STYA FE220 food bowl offers separate space for wet and dry food or for food and water in one place. The shallow shape of the bowls is a deliberate choice: this way, your cat's sensitive whiskers do not touch the rim of the bowl when eating, which prevents irritation and ensures a relaxed eating experience.

The high-quality stoneware bowls snap securely into the powder-coated metal frame, making them elevated and absolutely stable. This allows your cat to eat in an ergonomically comfortable position, while you get a feeding setup that visually matches your home.

Whisker-friendly thanks to shallow bowl shape
Your cat's whiskers are highly sensitive tactile hairs. If they constantly touch the rim of the bowl, it can lead to "whisker stress" – some cats then eat hesitantly, push food out of the bowl, or leave it untouched altogether. The shallow FE250 bowls, included with the FE220 food bowl, are designed so that the whiskers remain free. Your cat can eat undisturbed and relaxed.

Elevated feeding position for your cat
A slightly elevated feeding position relieves neck and shoulder muscles and facilitates the swallowing process. Older cats or larger breeds particularly benefit from this.

Sophisticated snap-in system
The bowls are simply placed into the precisely fitting recesses of the metal frame from above and snap into place. This ensures they are rock-solid and cannot slip or tip over while eating. Your cat thus has a quiet, secure place to eat. For cleaning, you simply lift out the bowls, put them back after washing – done. Compatible with the tall bowl FE240 (especially suitable for drinking water) or the shallow bowl FE250 (especially suitable for wet and dry food).

Floor-protecting feet made of high-quality plastic
The FE220 stands on feet made of high-quality plastic that are firmly clipped into the metal frame. They reliably protect your floor from scratches – whether parquet, vinyl, tiles or laminate. The frame therefore stands quietly and with little slipping, so you can safely place the food bowl on sensitive floors.

Why stoneware?
Stoneware is taste-neutral, hygienic and, unlike plastic, does not absorb odours or bacteria. It is heavy enough to stand stably and robust enough for daily use in the dishwasher. Many cats are sensitive to plastic bowls – stoneware is the more hygienic and durable alternative and is equally suitable for dry food, wet food and water.

High-quality craftsmanship & quality
The metal frame is made of powder-coated steel with a matte sand surface that is resistant to scratches and fingerprints. All edges are cleanly finished, the bowls themselves are fired and glazed – a complete piece of furniture for the feeding area.

Durable instead of disposable
Should one of the stoneware bowls ever be damaged, you can repurchase them individually. The metal frame will remain. This saves resources and allows you to keep the food bowl for many years.

Questions + Answers

Will my cat accept the food bowl?
Most cats adapt very quickly to an elevated bowl; many even prefer this eating position. Place the food bowl in its usual spot and fill it with your cat's regular food – typically, your cat will start eating as usual after a short adjustment period. The shallow shape of the bowls also facilitates the transition, as your cat is not restricted while eating.

Why are the bowls shallow?
The shallow shape is intentionally designed for eating. Cats' whiskers are highly sensitive tactile hairs, and a rim that is too high or narrow can irritate them – this is known as "whisker stress." With the shallow FE250 bowls, the whiskers remain free, allowing your cat to eat comfortably and without irritation.

Is the FE220 also suitable for large cats like Maine Coons?
Yes. The high-quality stoneware bowls in combination with the sturdy metal frame, including a locking system, ensure a secure stand, even if larger cats bite vigorously or nudge the bowls. The elevated eating position is particularly comfortable for large breeds.

What is the best way to use the two bowls?
You can use the bowls flexibly – for example, one for wet food and one for dry food, or one for food and one for water. However, for the water bowl, we recommend the tall bowl FE240 (sold separately), as cats prefer to drink from deeper vessels. The shallow FE250 bowls, which are included with the FE220 food bowl, are specifically optimized for the eating position.

Do the bowls slide when my cat eats?
No. The stoneware bowls lock into the precisely fitting recesses of the metal frame and sit securely. The weight of the stoneware itself also reliably prevents slipping.

What happens if a stoneware bowl breaks?
You can purchase the bowls individually from us. The metal frame will remain yours – so you never have to replace the entire product. This is more sustainable and aligns with our philosophy: durable instead of disposable.

Do the feet scratch my floor?
No. The FE220 has feet made of high-quality plastic that are firmly clipped into the metal frame. They reliably protect delicate floors such as parquet, vinyl, laminate, or tiles from scratches and simultaneously ensure a non-slip, quiet stand.

What is the difference to the FE120 food bowl?
Functionally, the FE120 and FE220 are identical – both offer you the ergonomically elevated eating position, the stable locking system, and the high-quality stoneware bowl. The difference lies purely in the design of the metal frame: The FE120 is designed as a closed, cubic block that sits flush with the floor on all four sides, giving it a particularly calm and solid appearance. The FE220, on the other hand, is bent from a single steel plate into an open U-shape – making the frame appear lighter and more graphic. Which of the two designs suits you better is purely a matter of taste – both integrate just as minimally into your living space.

Can the FE220 be combined with other STYA products?
Yes. The FE220 is designed within the same design system as our scratching posts and wall furniture. Colors (black or white), powder coating, and material aesthetics are coordinated so that the feeding area visually matches your other STYA furniture. The FE220 can also be ideally combined with the FE210 (food bowl with one dish).

Are the bowls dishwasher safe?
Yes, the stoneware bowls can be easily cleaned in the dishwasher. You can simply wipe the metal frame with a damp cloth.
